Our story
Good Life Corporation (originally Heaven Sent) was started in August 1989 with the opening of Pickering Place. Several years later, in 1999, Corson House was opened, followed by Everly in 2001. Since then, Good Life has continued to flourish, opening Good Day and several other group homes throughout the years.
In November 2013, Clif and Tammy MacDonald acquired Good Life with the goal of continuing the mission of providing fun, secure, person-centered community supports for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Our Mission
To provide fun, secure, person-centered, community service for adults with intellectual disabilities.
Philosophy
An Enviable Life
GLC strives to provide a life that is fun, safe, and centered on each person’s dreams, desires, goals, and needs. This starts with clean, well-maintained, and invitingly-decorated houses. GLC also prides itself on providing a safe and secure environment, deliciously prepared, nutritious meals, and meaningful, fun, and enjoyable activities. This is all completed with a sense of belonging and engagement.
Activities
Activities enjoyed at GLC include dinner, movies, shopping, visits to the library, trips to the beach, Star Trek conventions, concerts, amusement parks, and even a week of fun at Disney World. In addition to the regular activities at GLC, the Shenandoah Health and Action Club (SHAC) holds activities 2-3 times per week. Current favorite SHAC events are karaoke, bingo, and paint nights.
Community
At GLC, we are involved in our community. Good Day delivers coffee and baked goods to local businesses and the Good Works crew offers help to others in the community by raking, removing snow, staking wood, and making deliveries to the homebound. Our residential programs contribute to the community through Relay for Life, Samaritan’s Purse, and other fundraising/community support programs.
Qualified Staff
GLC’s qualified staff inspire personal growth by offering affection, encouragement, and a safe living environment. Many staff members have been with GLC for several years, but ALL of our staff are professionally trained in working with people with intellectual disabilities. This includes CPR/First Aid, medication and behavior management, and more. We rigorously examine all personal and professional references and conduct preliminary and full FBI fingerprinting background investigations and review driving records of new hires, as well as veteran staff.

Tammy MacDonald
Owner/Quality Assurance Director
Tammy started with GLC in 2011 as a Program Director, overseeing Good Day. Tammy’s role has morphed over the years, but one thing has stayed the same- high expectations for quality. Tammy earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing at Germanna Community College and a Bachelor of Nursing degree at Eastern Mennonite University. Tammy has an extensive background as a registered nurse in surgery, critical care, cardio-thoracic, and case management and utilization, and has been a nurse educator. When Tammy became frustrated with changes in the healthcare system that started preventing her from spending the quality time with patients that made the job fun, she decided to take the plunge and join Clif at GLC. She knew she enjoyed being around the people that lived at GLC on a social basis, and felt she had something to contribute. Tammy believes that people are people and that we all have the same hopes, dreams, problems, and hang-ups no matter where in the world we go or what our abilities or disabilities are. In Tammy’s spare time, she enjoys cooking, camping, traveling, reading, and working around the mini farm, complete with 3 horses, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 7 chickens, and 6 brand-new peeps.

Linda Martz
Administrative Assistant
Linda started with GLC in February 2020. Originally from Scotland, Linda’s career in the administrative field spans back to the mid-80s where she worked as an office assistant for a stockbroking company in Edinburgh, Scotland. She then moved to London and eventually the U.S., where she worked many years in the death care industry. In 2015, Linda became an Area Administrator, overseeing 11 cemeteries from Winchester to Lynchburg. After some company restructuring, Linda decided to look for other employment, which led her to GLC. Our mission spoke to Linda and she loves every minute of working here, from having lunch with clients at the pavilion to the support of her colleagues. In Linda’s spare time, she enjoys gardening, watching competition shows like The Voice and Masked Singer, watching football, and spending time with family and friends.

Cheryl Jetter
Program Director
Cheryl started with GLC as a Direct Support Professional in 2007. Just over a year later, she was promoted to Health & Safety Specialist, then to Lead Residential Instructor only a year after that. Cheryl’s drive and dedication continued, and she became a Program Coordinator and finally a Program Director for Good Day. Cheryl has done it all, including scheduling and GLC vacation planning. Cheryl enjoys working at GLC because she says that GLC, by far, provides the best care for the people supported. She appreciates that the staff at GLC works as a team, continuing to learn and increase skills. She likes that new ideas are welcomed and says that there is an open-door policy and GLC works with their employees to have a good work/life balance. When not at work, Cheryl enjoys reading, being outdoors, going to the beach, and planning trips for friends and family.
